Folklore legend
The Mauricie region has a lot to offer in terms of nature, but it doesn't leave much to be desired in terms of culture and history. Set course for a mythical and historical site located on the banks of the Saint-Maurice River and discover what forged its legend. After arriving at the Forges du Saint-Maurice National Historic Site, stroll around the outdoors with its large open spaces covered with ruins, then head for the Grande Maison to begin the Diabolus ex machina audio tour narrated by Fred Pellerin in order to learn more about the legend of the Forges (additional cost required for this activity / Audio track available in French only, English translation provided upon request).
Continue your visit by entering the blast furnace where the immersive exhibition 1600 °C trial by fire is displayed and learn all about the life of the forgemen of the time. Finally, go for a picnic in the outdoor dedicated area or near the water, sitting on the rocks. Plan to bring your lunch, as there is no food service on site.
